Costa Rica again
We just spent 5 days at a friend’s home near Liberia in Costa Rica and it was the most relaxing, rejuvenating vacation we’ve had in years. Five minutes walking distance from the beach, our only “scheduled” items were a completely optional morning jog at 7:30 (for my husband) and drinks at the beach to watch the sunset at 5:30 (for all of us). In between those two events were a lot of delicious meals, walks on beautiful beaches, swimming in the ocean and in the pool, a river cruise with a naturalist pointing out lots of birds, alligators and helping us feed bananas to some very agile white face monkeys, a little shopping and even time for some quick watercolor sketches.
My first sketch was of a beach seen from Lola’s restaurant; Lola is a pet pig which/who occasionally roams around the beach. Unfortunately, Lola was sleeping somewhere out of sight, so I couldn’t include her in the sketch.

Lola’s at Avellanas
My next sketch was of a beach sunset but I think I have to add a pelican flying overhead looking for its next meal.
The waves were impressive. The next one I do of the sunset there will have to include some surfers.
Finally, I did a sketch of our friend’s house seen from across the pool.
Vacations that allow time for painting are really precious. Adding to that a gracious host, good food, fabulous weather … it’s an unbeatable combination.
I just realized I never posted this. Ah well, better late than never.
